Renovations

You’ve probably noticed that the site looks quite different. Me and WT spent two days to get a new theme rolling, upgrade wordpress, and install a few great new features.

The next step will be to put up a page for Aziel, set up forums for its testing, and make them work together with the blog. This won’t be for a while though because of life distractions and the fact that me and WT (and maybe Clam!) are doing some work on a side project; a game that I’ll talk about later.

Oh and here’s a random Aziel screenshot just to show off the new shadowbox integration.

Slow movement

We’ve both had problems with our PCs, my hard drive deciding to up and die, and GearGOD’s motherboard deciding to die (and hell, we replaced his graphics card too). Suffice to say, we’ve been moving slowly on our website and any content to do with it. But we’ll both be back up and running soon enough, and ready to at least start something.

Wish us luck.

We have moved!

Hello children. After a month of quietness, we’re back! And with a domain name this time. There was a swarm of problems with the move and most of them have been resolved, but some still linger. Most notably, clicking pictures won’t show their fancy zoomed version. I’m trying to figure it out but have no idea.

More GM samples will be put up soon. I’m also thinking about completely scrapping the current theme. It’s based on a free theme I found but we’ve changed almost everything in it and the leftovers of the original theme are causing more problems than good at this stage. If we do decide to work from scratch, what kind of colour theme would you like to see?

Updates

Hi again. Lots of stuff got fiddled with and proper IE+low res ff/opera compatability is coming thanks to Sheldon. The GM Samples page is now a gallery style list. It still needs to be brushed up but I think its pretty cool. Ajax for posts will also hopefuly be coming soon. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like having the whole page reloaded just to read comments!

I also added two more things: a bit from an older gui demo and a program to force GM executables into debug mode.

For anyone thinking about using WordPress, here’s my thoughts so far.. It’s quite simple and straightforward, lots of plugins to do just about anything. However the minute you stray outside the ‘user’ path and try to fiddle with it under the hood, its really ugly. The database is a complete mess. Such a mess that after half an hour of trying me and WT gave up trying to figure out how the hell a post tracks what categories it belongs to. Apparently older versions had tables for that sole purpose but they’re no longer there. This means that fiddling with your WP stuff ouside of the WP-controlled content is a nightmare. Another example is the editor which I’m writing this post in. When you put serious code into it and hit save, it manages to lose half of it! So we have to keep text file copies of any code that goes into pages because trying to edit it from saved destroys it. Admittedly its not really designed to deal with code at all, and there are plugins to replace the editor, so I should probably look into that.

Stay tuned, the whole thing is being updated quite actively and I still have quite a lot of stuff to post. Not the least of which: my and Sheldon’s GUI.

Thusly it begins.

Well hi. This blog was installed a few days ago and worked on only today. So I guess hi, welcome, and don’t freak out if at any point everything becomes completely different or you’re showered with errors because this is being worked on actively atm.

Still, I put up a few GM samples. One of them is very cool and up till now I’ve been making a point of not sharing it with anyone. At the moment I’m just going over my GM folder and picking things out that should be put up. I also have a crapload of smaller exmaples which probably aren’t worth dedicating a post to on their own. Not sure how to handle them
