Game Maker GUI

Well, after a massive delay this thing is finally released. It is far, far from finished but I don’t use game maker anymore and I knew that if I don’t make it somewhat presentable and release it now, I’ll never do it. So it comes as-is. You will have to learn how to use it by looking at the example content and reading the comments of the scripts.

Its a real shame that I won’t be able to finish this.

Your work never ceases to amaze me. This is beautiful.

Nice, but much too slow to be used.

It would be much easier and faster to make a Look&Feel for Java, as there is going to be some Java Game Makers (LGM?, G-Creator).

Just what kind of computers do you people have? Mine is a dinosaur and I still manage to run that at 40+ fps.

    Beyond my expectations.

Wrong. Well, to some extent anyway. Making a java LnF from scratch is *extremely* complicated. If performance doesn’t worry you, you can make a skin for the Synth LnF in an xml file. Also, you’re assuming that just because these game engines are written in Java, that they’ll allow swing components on the game canvas – not necessarily the case.

Just your average family computer, which is what I would like anything I create to be runnable on.

    Incredible.
    Smooth, too.

An average computer today sports a dual core processor and 1gb of RAM. It will have no trouble whatsoever running that.

Your average computer today is whatever old XP you can manage to find. :P JK

If I knew how to find this computer’s specs, I’d tell you them, but I can tell you I can run almost anything on it at full speed, and I get ~15 FPS running this. It’s got a lot of useful functionality in it though, i might use it in pieces.

I enjoy the Win32 API message pumping you got going in the engine. But to be honest, it’s way too slow to be executed be executed by game maker. There are still some bugs though, resizing a window doesn’t immediately register all controls within the window if dragged too fast, and the edit controls register user input a bit slow.

As a G-Creator developer, I can easily modify G-Java code and commit it.

My virus scanner picked up a HEUR/Malware virus inside the gui.zip folder. Do you know anything about this?

  21. GlenGlen Says:

I’ll be using this for alot of my programs…

This thing is great. Besides, releasing the gmdecompiler open source, sure.
But you can decompile java softwares too… though it would be great if they released it, yet it would suck because people would pass common protection and publish it, allowing people to do theese kind of stuff to.

It’s also a good thing, allowing people to have a peek at the source, since theese stuff can be quite cool!
Overall it’s… All up to you, just don’t go get sued! And good luck. :)

  23. Bicubic Says:

Chat.dll is not a virus. If your scanner is complaining, its a false positive.
