Hi again. Lots of stuff got fiddled with and proper IE+low res ff/opera compatability is coming thanks to Sheldon. The GM Samples page is now a gallery style list. It still needs to be brushed up but I think its pretty cool. Ajax for posts will also hopefuly be coming soon. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like having the whole page reloaded just to read comments!
I also added two more things: a bit from an older gui demo and a program to force GM executables into debug mode.
For anyone thinking about using WordPress, here’s my thoughts so far.. It’s quite simple and straightforward, lots of plugins to do just about anything. However the minute you stray outside the ‘user’ path and try to fiddle with it under the hood, its really ugly. The database is a complete mess. Such a mess that after half an hour of trying me and WT gave up trying to figure out how the hell a post tracks what categories it belongs to. Apparently older versions had tables for that sole purpose but they’re no longer there. This means that fiddling with your WP stuff ouside of the WP-controlled content is a nightmare. Another example is the editor which I’m writing this post in. When you put serious code into it and hit save, it manages to lose half of it! So we have to keep text file copies of any code that goes into pages because trying to edit it from saved destroys it. Admittedly its not really designed to deal with code at all, and there are plugins to replace the editor, so I should probably look into that.
Stay tuned, the whole thing is being updated quite actively and I still have quite a lot of stuff to post. Not the least of which: my and Sheldon’s GUI.
